I was sat at my electric piano in my 7th floor apartment overlooking west London. Red walls and black & white tiles. After several years living in holes I’d scored a great space on my own. I was a guardian of this unused property, along with scores of others. A whole tower block of creatives living cheaply for an uncertain duration. I’d just agreed for some friends to come for a jam and then this entire song downloaded into my mind. The chords flowed from my fingers and the lyrics dribbled from my mouth. It was all I could do to press voice recording on my phone and get it all down. That was the easy bit. Recording it was more of a challenge. But I was belligerent about the vision.
This is really the central essence of the body of work. Acoustic bossa nova, complete with my flute and Jesus Ferreira’s nylon string guitar, and 4-hero style electronica with Lamb’s drummer (Bjerre) and Neville Malcolm’s deep double bass.
