I originally wrote this while studying in Salford. I remember toying with a grand piano in a big rehearsal room with sunlight shining in. I was simply feeling it out by sound.I wrote the chords and melody, and drum solo section.
Two decades later I found in Marc Parnell a drummer who could make the solo his own. The strings and lyrics followed.
The lyrics describe someone watching their partner sleep. They feel quite amorous but don’t want to disturb.
lyrics
Been watching you since sunrise
Breathing softly, peacefully sleeping there
I'm fascinated by your smile
What is in your dream
Your face is painted in sunlight
Chasing shadows, teasing your dreams to life
Your secret’s safe in your slumber
’Til your eyes meet mine
How long ’til I know what you’re dreaming?
Darkness, memories, through the void, come to me
The playbook changes in daylight
Words are spoken, eyes tell a story too
What deal can they be making?
When your eyes meet mine
New day blossoms before you
All the mundane seems like a paradise
I’m waiting to adore you
When you turn and smile
Breathing, waiting for the right moment
To discover your hidden feelings
Then we choose what to do
Been wanting you since sunrise
Now this moment finds me alone with you
A time belongs in a moment
When your eyes meet mine
Dancing with you, held in that moment
Will we find that all of our dreams come true
Dancing with you, held in that moment
Are we dreaming or will we find that all of our dreams come true

Great album! A crossover jazz-r'nb-african trip from continent to continent. London does it again. Nyubian Twist with more jazz overtones. John Woodward

Heard “ Tubby’s Chaser “ on our local Jazz station. Sourced the album on Spotify - listened - it was love at first listen. Hoped I could get vinyl on Bandcamp - was successful!! purple2001
