Cosmic funk instrumental jazz, recorded in Brazil

I’d had a bout of flu and my wonderful girlfriend had kindly made me some chicken soup & given me a hug. Between spoonfuls and idea came and I rushed over to the piano.

The melody popped out and I dictaphone’d it before finishing my soup. Then while workshopping the idea with Paul Michael and Hammadi Valdes more and more of the idea made itself clear.

I was fortunate to tour Brazil during 2018. We played all kinds of places. We played opposite Airto Moreira at the Nhundiarquara Jazz Festival to about 400 local musicians. Airto and Flora cam to watch the set.

One night towards the end of our journey we checked into a studio in Curitiba. We recorded until 4am. The band but brought the best out of me and I love this version we made. The whole vibe in that studio was beautiful. Some local musicians had come to watch the session, and a film crew documented it all. It was a great scene.
